In July 1951, following his return to London after a visit to
the Hollywood Bowl, Frank Wright started a series of
concerts in the open air at Kenwood with a performance
by the London Symphony Orchestra. This year, as a
tribute to that first concert, we are delighted to welcome
back the same great Orchestra for a special
commemoration of 50 years of concerts at Kenwood.
As can be seen by the photo, taken at the first ever
concert, not that much has changed over the years -
thousands of people still flock to Kenwood to enjoy a
summer picnic whilst being entertained under the stars.

The memories of this amazing series of picnic concerts are guaranteed to remain with you long after the fireworks have faded into the night, and as part of our tribute to the Kenwood series, we are asking the thousands of previous visitors to share some of those memories with us.
If you have a story or some photographs of a special occasion at the concerts, contact us and we will publish the best in our souvenir programme.
